Mike came to the Firm from Baker Botts LLP where he had been a partner in the trial department. He divides his practice between international litigation, mass tort defense, and commercial litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has considerable experience in litigation in other countries, including Latin America, the Philippines, and the Caribbean.

A generalist by choice, Mike is particularly well versed in state and federal procedure, as well as questions involving federal jurisdiction, choice of law, the doctrine of forum non conveniens, and enforcement of foreign judgments in this country.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mike worked for some nine years in the oil service industry. During that time, from 1981 until 1987, he also was an adjunct faculty member in the University of Houston College of Business Administration, where he taught both graduate and undergraduate classes in operations management.

Active in the community, Mike serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and is the former Chairman of the Show's Merchandise Committee.  Mike and the Firm strongly support the mission of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, participating in the Show's Wine and Junior Auctions, as well as donating to the Calf Scramble.  Mike is also a life member of the "H" Association, the lettermen's organization of the University of Houston.

Mike has been named a Texas Super Lawyer every year since 2006.
